Key Stage 1
Exploring Materials

Describing The Properties Of Materials

In this activity your child will describe the properties of different materials. They will compare the properties of materials by putting them into groups. They will distinguish between the object, the material it is made from, and its physical properties.

Throughout our 6 Exploring Materials topics your child will identify and classify different materials, discover the ‘odd’ object and go on a treasure hunt. Play with water and ice and create a sculpture from recycling. This topic contains 6 activities with accompanying activity sheets. In addition, it covers the following key aspects of the National Curriculum in England: Art and Science.
